Grassroots Organizing
In addition to the programs listed here, ARJ and AECP have also worked with a number of ad hoc coalitions related to reproductive rights and other related issues. Whether the issue is prescription equity (to require insurance coverage for contraceptives) or Medicaid coverage for women with breast and cervical cancer or maintaining pharmacy access to emergency contraception, ARJ is on the front lines, working to safeguard women’s health.

Programs
PUBLIC POLICY PROGRAM
Women's Summit
ARJ began the Women's Summit in 2007, our signature event. Each March women from all over the State of Alaska travel to Juneau for a multi-day training in the legislative process. While there participants are provided an opportunity for advocacy and interaction with their representatives while attending committee meetings and luncheons with State representatives and Senators. Many participants leave the conference motivated to remain active in their local politics, and some have even decided to run for office!PUBLIC EDUCATION PROGRAM
Healthy Sexuality Week
Together with the University of Alaska Anchorage Health and Counseling Center, ARJ co-sponsors Healthy Sexuality Week each Valentine's week. The purpose of this week-long program is to educate students about safe sex, making good and healthy choices about sex and how to protect themselves from unwanted pregnancies, rape and sexually transmitted diseases. ARJ sponsored educational events, distributed condoms and went on the radio to talk about making healthy choices about sex. The closing event of this year's week was a sold-out evening with Dan Savage, syndicated columnist and writer of Savage Love.ALASKA ACCESS PROGRAM
